Webinar: The CEO's Role in Physician Recruitment

For those of you who were unable to attend, we have posted our latest webinar (The CEO's Role in Physician Recruitment) on our website. Please check it out here

The CEO’s Role in Physician Recruiting

Despite the growing Physician Shortage, many hospitals and medical groups view recruiting as solely an administrative task. To survive in our current environment organizations need to make physician recruiting a leadership level priority or they will risk encountering:
1. Existing physician resistance
2. Inadequate resource support
3. Internal support alignment issues

High-Level commitment and accountability will create a focus on recruiting resulting in an increase in:
1. Strategic Support
2. Economic Support
3. Tactical Support
4. Effective Planning

Building a culture of Recruiting Excellence will position your organization to better weather the existing physician shortage. This can only be accomplished by making Physician Recruitment a leadership level priority.

Horton, Smith & Associates and our Executive Vice President Bob Bregant will be offering a live webinar on March 25th, 2010 at 2:00pm CST to discuss the need for leadership engagement in physician recruitment. Opportunities are limited, so please reserve your slot now. To sign up for the webinar go to www.hortonsmithassociates.com, fill out the information on the Webinar Series page of our website. Check out our new staff

This year, our firm has had the distinct pleasure of expanding our executive staff, and we feel that they will play a major role in our continued success. Their profiles were recently published in the "People on the Move" section of the Kansas City Business Journal. Below is an excerpt from that article:

Jim White has joined Horton Smith & Associates as executive vice president of business development. White leads efforts in operations, market analysis, product development and promoting growth in markets. White previously worked with a national pharmacy benefit manager and a national insurance carrier. He has 20 years of experience in various facets of business.

Joni Hammer has been promoted to director of contingency placement at Horton Smith & Associates. Hammer has a strong background in the staffing industry and health care recruiting, including experience in sales and marketing.

BN Parsa has joined Horton, Smith & Associates as Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer. Parsa's previous roles have included Medical Director, staff physician, Psychiatrist, treatment team leader and psychiatric consultant for fitness to practice and competency assessments.

Doing Business the Right Way, Not the Historic Way

For over 20 years I have held key executive roles, with high quality physician groups and integrated delivery systems. In my role as President/CEO of three large medical groups, I learned firsthand how efficient and successful physician recruitment positively impacts an organization. During my tenure in these roles, I also became acutely aware of how difficult it was to find a physician recruitment firm that embodied all of the characteristics I was looking for in a partner.

It’s taken me four years to create the firm I would personally engage, were I still serve in the roles outlined above. Horton Smith & Associates (HSA) is the firm I built from the ground up to do business the “right” way not the “historic” way. We have successfully created a firm of “firsts.” Here are just a few:

  1. Dr. BN "Neal" Parsa has joined our firm as Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for Horton Smith & Associates.
  2. We are exploring opportunities to financially supplement med students currently in school. Through this initiative we hope to do our part to help alleviate the physician shortage.
  3. We have taken steps to create a Physician Advisory Committee to ensure that we stay on the leading edge of Healthcare needs.
  4. Developed NeoVocatus, a new division of our firm dedicated to assisting Physicians who are in Good Recovery from issues with addictions.
  5. Our firm created a Scorecard that helps our clients compare their opportunities to others around the country based on 50 different criteria, thus providing objectivity in how you structure your search and hiring package.
  6. The experience of our staff is unprecedented in the industry. Our Clients work with people who have walked a mile in your shoes.
  7. We are constantly looking for ways to give back to the Healthcare industry through volunteerism, webinars, lectures and articles.

I believe we have created the type of firm that has never existed before and that firm is Horton, Smith & Associates. At the same time, please know that there is one historical component of doing business the right way that we will always embrace…We believe we need to earn your business every day.
